What is a vector file?

It is very important to provide high resolution files for high printing quality when customizing a 10x10 pop up tent, feather flag banner, or other anything. There are two distinct types of image files — raster and vector. They’re formed in different ways. one is forming an image with a lot of dots (also known as pixels), the other is through geometry. Raster files are formed by tons of tiny color blocks, the pixels. It would become blurry if it is re-sized enough. Vector images are created with mathematical equations, lines, and curves — which means you can zoom indefinitely on a vector and it will never change, become blurry.

To distinguish vector image and raster image, zoom in enough, you would see the individual pixels if it is a raster image. But, if you only see smooth lines, it is a vector image.

Vector File Formats

There are many different vector file formats, the most common types being EPS, AI, and SVG:

.ai: This is the native file format of Adobe Illustrator, this file is commonly used in print media and digital graphics, such as logos.

.eps: Encapsulated PostScript is an older type of vector graphics file. .eps can be used with just about any vector editing app, but it’s an older format that does not support transparent backgrounds.

.pdf: Portable Document Format is a PostScript-based format created by Adobe, very commonly used in the print industry for its flexibility and capacity to retain the exact appearance and layout of documents saved in this format.

.svg: The Scalable Vector Graphics format is based in XML (a markup language used widely across the Internet that's readable by both machines and humans). It’s useful for the sitio web, where it can be indexed, searched, and scripted.

How do you convert JPG to vector?

1. Use an online converter if you're converting a JPG to SVG that's on your Android or iOS phone or tablet.

2. You can use online converters on your computer to turn images into vector images for free.

3. Adobe Illustrator is a paid app, so you can also use that program if you have it. Open your JPG, then trace it to turn it into a vector image.
